PROJECT: LIONS PARK

Our goal is to create an inclusive play space that is accessible for all members of our community in an area that was last updated in the 1960s. Our first renovation, Lions Park, a small park located behind the city library in downtown Dewey, will feature equipment that challenges both mental and physical skills. Activities will offer both inclusive traditional and new concepts that encourage fun opportunities for exploration.

An inclusive playground is an open and safe space carefully designed to promote play and learning for persons of all ages. While this may seem difficult when considering different levels of physical and mental abilities, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) provides guidelines to ensure that everyone can get out and enjoy this playground. A highlight is the fully accessible We-Go-Round, which can be enjoyed by anyone with physical limitations.

The playground will encompass about a third of the overall park space. All equipment will meet ADA standards for accessibility and inclusiveness and the play area will be surfaced to protect from injury. Picnic tables and seating with shelters will provide places for relaxation as well as cover during inclement weather. The walkways will be hard surfaced to allow easy access to all parts of the park.

The WE-GO-Round

Bringing kids of all abilities together, the We-Go-Round® is fully wheelchair accessible and promotes fun interaction by having all users face each other. It can be turned from the inside or outside, allowing everyone to participate in the fun.

The NETPLEX TOWER - (https://youtu.be/6vPmmekgquM) We took the most popular Netplex components and added new opportunities for height that everyone can enjoy. The center spiral belting with grippy texture provides an easy way to transfer and creates an accessible route to climb to the top for a whooshy ride down the slides. Everyone will enjoy the spectacular view from the towers, while those watching below have perfect sightlines to all the activity. The Super Netplex offers height, accessibility and visibility wih lots of climbing, spinning, bouncy fun and plenty of places to hang out. Click image to see a video on the Netplex Tower.

Final installation may vary from these plans.
