About Us

We are the Friends of Dewey Parks, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We are a like-minded group of individuals who were born, raised, or currently reside here. Together we recognized a need for renovation of the local parks in our town and are working to achieve that goal.

Welcome to Dewey

The City of Dewey sits in the northeast corner of Oklahoma. We are 5 miles north of Bartlesville and approximately 50 miles north of Tulsa. For a small town of 3500, we can boast about our businesses and family activities.

Dewey is home to several unique museums: the Dewey Hotel Museum, a Victorian hotel full of exhibits explaining the Native American, ranching and oil history of this area; the Tom Mix Museum extolls the life of the Most Famous Cowboy of the Silver Screen, as well as Mix’s early duty as Dewey’s Night Marshall; and Prairie Song, an authentic reproduction of an 1800s town filled with the tools and ephemera of that period’s daily life.

Our school system centers on preparing students to live and work in today’s world of new technology as well as encouraging them to explore our local agricultural heritage through Future Farmer of America and 4-H. Our new Boys and Girls Club, opened this past fall, offers a variety of opportunities through after school programs.

Businesses in Dewey range from hardware and antique stores, boutiques, and health services to oil field supplies, printing, and steel manufacturing. We are anticipating the construction of a zero emission oil refinery in the City’s industrial park.

While the City of Dewey is a thriving community, there is still a need to enrich the opportunities for play and restoration for our children and their families. We are addressing this need through renovation of our four local parks beginning with Lions Park.

We are excited for our community and look forward to the park being fully renovated and enjoyed by all.
